Rest In Peace William James Patrick Mulvey

Rest In Peace William James Patrick Mulvey, who died April 10, 2013.  Bill was the son of John Mulvey and Mae Jacoby, and the grandson of Frank Mulvey and Jane Farrell.  This picture is from our 2009 reunion.

From his wife, Pat Mulvey on April 10:

"Hi Everyone..with great sadness I have to give you the news about my Bill. Dr. Conti took Bill off the ventilator at 12:00 pm today.  They made him as comfortable as possible ..took all the tubes etc. away and he breathed on his own until 1:44. He was the best of men.  There will be a Mass for him next Tuesday at 11:00 at St. Andrews Chapel and a small reception after the Mass next door at the parish hall.  His ashes will be buried in the National Cemetery in Beaufort, and the Marine Corps will give him a big sendoff!

I want to thank you all for your friendship and all the kindnesses you have shown me these last few weeks.
Bill was right when he said “We live in the best place..how lucky are we!”
Thanks so much to you all. Pat "

Our deepest sympathy to Pat and all her family.

Cousins Meet For First Time In Afghanistan

                                                Rick Mulvey

Alex Quiles

Rick Mulvey, son of Julia and Francis Mulvey, and Alex Quiles, son of Jane Mulvey and Herb Quiles, are second cousins, but have never met before. That changed in October 2012 when Rick ended up at Lashkar Gah, Afghanistan, at Camp Leatherneck USMC Base.  Rick was assigned as a civilian contractor to the base and Alex was there as a USMC combat photographer.  Rick said "we were actually attached to the same command, and all the guys I worked with knew Alex".  They met on several occasions prior to Alex rotating back to the states in January after his deployment.  Alex is currently at Mirimar Marine Air Station, California.  Rick continues with his assignment at Camp Leatherneck.  They hope to meet again stateside in the future.  As a sidenote, Rick said that "the young men and women in the USMC are really a wonderful bunch.  Alex is a great guy.
The group nicknamed me OG for old guy".
