William Owen Doutney

We are very sorry to announce that Bill Doutney passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, July 22, after complications from surgery. His daughter, Susan Arazy, started this draft posting last week, but perhaps was not able to get it to show on the blog. I hope she doesn't mind that I am posting her announcement now, with a picture from the reunion.

"The Doutney family has sad news to share. Bill has passed away this morning after a long hard fight in the Hospital. I am glad we were able to join the reunion last year, as he enjoyed himself, and I know you all enjoyed his stories of our ancestors. He is greatly missed already.
His immediate family has joined together in PA to help Lorraine help him move on to his next stage of life."

Our deepest sympathy to Bill's wife Lorraine, and his children William Jr., Joseph, Susan, and Mary Beth, his 9 grandchildren, and all the rest of his family. It was fortunate that so many of us got to meet him again at our reunion last year. He proved to be one of the most knowledgable about the Mulvey/Farrell family history, and we all certainly enjoyed hearing his stories.

Bill's grandparents were Mary Farrell and Owen O'Beirne. Mary and Owen had two children: Bill O'Beirne (single); and Mary, who married Robert Doutney. Bill was a son of Mary & Robert Doutney, and his siblings are Robert, Susan, and Patsy.

We understand that the Visitation will be held at Overton Funeral Home (631-581-5085) at 172 East Main Street in East Islip, NY on Tuesday, July 27th from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 28th at St. Mary's, also in East Islip. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the Doutney family in the coming days.

Ireland Reunion 2011

Marianne and self, along with granddaughter Kayla, will visit Ireland during August. Besides enjoying all our Irish cousins we will be discussing and obtaining information on facilities for a family reunion in Leitrim (Carrick on Shannon). Best timeframe for a reunion seems to be late June thru August. July and August are the most expensive $ times due to tourism. If anyone has a preference, please let me know. More on this in the future. I will probably follow thru with a letter after I return from Ireland. Joe
